The Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority negotiates a contract with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority to accept more horse stable area storm water runoff from Monmouth Park Race Track to improve Branchport Creek.
The Agreement which received final approval from the TRWRA Board on March 10, 2009 provides the following:
- It provides for the construction of a storm water detention basin by the NJSEA to reduce the instantaneous flow rate to protect the TRWRA’s Main Pump Station from enormous surges of storm flow
- It will help to reduce pollution in Branchport Creek in Oceanport by directing more of the storm water to the TRWRA system and away from the creek. The storm water being redirected away from the creek is from the horse stable area.
- The Sports and Exposition Authority will pay $3.15 million to TRWRA over 20 years to allow the increased flow per day.
- The increased flow volume will provide increased revenue from more flow per day on more days in a year
- The agreement assisted the NJDEP resolving the matter.
